چکیده
Abstract The presence of periodic modulation in graphene leads to a reconstruction the band structure and formation minibands. In an external uniform magnetic field, fractal energy spectrum called Hofstadter butterfly is formed. Particularly interesting this regard are superlattices with tunable strength, such as electrostatically induced ones graphene. We perform quantum transport modeling gate-induced square two-dimensional superlattice investigate relation details structure. At low field dynamics carriers reflects semi-classical orbits which depend on mini theoretically model transverse focusing, ballistic technique by means we minibands, their extent carrier type. find good agreement between focusing spectra structures obtained from continuum model, proving usefulness technique. high calculated four-probe resistance fit for our superlattice. Miniband transport and oscillations in semiconductor superlattices
We present and analyse solutions of a recent derivation of a drift-diffusion model of miniband transport in strongly coupled superlattices. The model is obtained from a single-miniband Boltzmann–Poisson transport equation with a BGK (Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook) collision term by means of a consistent Chapman–Enskog expansion. The reduced drift-diffusion equation is solved numerically and travelling ...
متن کاملHofstadter Butterfly and a Hidden Apollonian Gasket
The Hofstadter butterfly, a quantum fractal made up of integers describing quantum Hall states, is shown to be related to an integral Apollonian gasket with D3 symmetry. This mapping unfolds as the self-similar butterfly landscape is found to describe a close packing of (Ford) circles that represent rational flux values and is characterized in terms of an old ((300BC) problem of mutually tangen...

We study the thermal and electric transport of a fluid of interacting Dirac fermions as they arise in single-layer graphene. We include Coulomb interactions, a dilute density of charged impurities and the presence of a magnetic field to describe both the static and the low frequency response as a function of temperature T and chemical potential μ . In the critical regime μ . T where both bands ...

Graphene flakes placed on hexagonal boron nitride feature in the presence of a magnetic field a complex electronic structure due to a hexagonal moiré potential resulting from the van der Waals interaction with the substrate. The slight lattice mismatch gives rise to a periodic supercell potential. Zone folding is expected to create replicas of the original Dirac cone and Hofstadter butterflies....
متن کاملEffects of screening on the Hofstadter butterfly.
We study, within the Hartree approximation, the effects of the electronelectron interaction on the energy spectrum of a two-dimensional electron gas in a perpendicular homogeneous magnetic field and a lateral superlattice potential with square symmetry. Due to the strong screening effects, the bandwidth of the Landau bands oscillates strongly with their filling. For short enough periods and str...
